Update on Our Younger Players


Our younger players are performing very well this season in France, Italy, New Zealand, and Switzerland.

John Roberson is leading Chalon to the second spot in French top ProA league as they qualified to play quarter-finals of FIBA Europe Cup. In FIBA Europe Cup, he is averaging 18.4 points, 6.7 assists, and 2.7 rebounds and in ProA, he is averaging 15.5 points (6th in the league), 7.1 assists (2nd in the league), 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. John was named MVP of this year’s All-Star Game. In the first quarter-finals game against Cibona, John scored 39 points (10/11 from behind the 3-point line). Last season for Chalon, John averaged 15 points and 6 assists and earned 2nd team ProA selection.

Jaye Crockett began the season for Forli in Italian 2nd division. He was named MVP of round 4 after scoring 18 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in a win versus Udine. During the first part of the season for Forli, Jaye averaged 15.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. In February, Jaye signed with Trapani in Italian 2nd division to finish the rest of the season. He is currently averaging 15 points and 8 rebounds. Jaye recently had 25 points and 12 rebounds against Viola. Two years ago, Jaye played for another Italian division 2 team, Tortona, where he averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds. Last season with Swiss team Massagno, he was named 1st team All-Swiss LNB selection as he averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Our 2nd year Cotonou pro wing, Tylor Ongwae, had a solid half of the season with Swedish champions, Sodertalje. In two Basketball Champions League qualifications games against Finish champ, Kataja, Tylor averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. In FIBA Europe Cup, Tylor had 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists against Belgium team, Mons. In the second game versus German team Telekom Basket Bonn, Tylor had 11 points. In the last two games of round 1, Tylor had 17 points and 5 rebounds versus Mons and 10 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds against Telekom Basket Bonn. Sodertalje qualified to play 2nd round of FIBA Europe Cup. In FIBA Europe Cup, Tylor averaged 10.4 points and 4 rebounds in 22 minutes of play. Last season for Solna, Tylor was MVP of Swedish division 2 where he averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds. After the last season, he joined one of the top Italian teams, Avellino. They finished 3rd in regular season and lost in semifinals. Currently, Tylor is playing for Taranaki in New Zealand. In his first game versus Nelson Giants, Tylor had 28 points and 6 rebounds. He is currently averaging 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. Two years ago at The University of Louisiana at Monroe, Tylor was named 1st team Sun Belt selection. 

Our rookie guard, Justin Roberson, is having a solid season for the last year’s Swiss champions, Fribourg. He is averaging 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals per game and shooting 48% from field and 80% from the free throw line. He recently had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists versus Neuchâtel,16 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists against Massagno, and 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists against Starwings. This season, Fribourg won the regular season. Last year at The University of Louisiana at Monroe, he averaged 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Justin was named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year and earned 2nd Team Sun Belt Conference selection.

Our 2nd year pro point guard, Troran Brown, just recently signed to play for Fribourg as well. In his first game versus Neuchâtel, Troran scored 23 points in 21 minutes. Recently versus Geneva, Troran had 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game and was the deciding factor for Fribourg winning the game that secured the regular season championship. Troran is currently averaging 10.4 points per game. Last season Troran was named Import of the Year and Honorable Mention in Bosnian top league. He played for one of the top teams, KK Spars. In college, he was two-time All-American at The University of Montevallo where he averaged 19 points and 6 assists.
