This past weekend in Paris, France, the best eight teams from the top French ProA League competed in the LEADERS CUP 2016.
Chalon-sur-Saône began the tournament in seventh place, and in the first game faced Le Mans. With a great performance of John Roberson (MVP of the game), Chalon beat Le Mans. John scored 13 points, had 10 assists, and earned a +20 efficiency. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the game. In the Cup semi-finals, Chalon won against Lyon-Villerbaunne. Chalon had an outstanding third quarter when they took a 17 points lead. Again, our John Roberson was named the MVP of the game. He scored 16 points and dished out 6 assists, with a +23 efficiency.
In the Cup Finals, Chalon faced Monaco, who started the Cup in the second place. At the half-time, Chalon was up by four points, but in the second half Monaco played with much more energy and won 99:74. John was the best player on his team. He finished with 19 points, added 7 assists, and earned +17 efficiency.
John showed that he adapted well to one of the best leagues in Europe. He finished the Cup averaging 16 points, 7.7 assists, with an amazing 61.5% from behind the 3-point line, and an average efficiency of +20.
Chalon-sur-Saône will play again on February 24, when they travel to Oostende in Belgium to play the second game of the FIBA Europe Cup quarter-finals. Chalon is up 1:0, after they beat the Belgium team at home 84:71. In that game John had 22 points and 7 assists, and was named MVP of the game. In the French domestic Pro A league, Chalon will play against Limoges on February 27.
